Good questions! We didn't go to any services as we thought the value of sitting through services entirely in Japanese would be limited.
There is some missionary work going on. The Japanese-American friend above grew up in the US but now works in a seminary in Tokyo, training pastors, so he is kind of a missionary although he is entirely financially independent now. He told us that there are quite a few house churches in Japan that don't appear on official statistics, so there are more Christians in Japan than one might think.
Curious about your religious experiences. Did you find a church? Are there people doing missionary work?

Interesting, thank you!
